ifihadthechance

I would like to speak with a Native American person. There's something about their nature and way of life that's so appealing to me. They're so simple. Yet complex. They have a certain way of doing things, and a whole other world of language, food, and customs. Everything comes to them in common sense; Eat when you're hungry. Drink when you're thirsty. Sleep when you're tired. Hunt and gather for food. Respect the people around you. Take care of the good earth. Be truthful and honest. Share your wisdom and happiness. Dance. Sing. Live your life. I wish we could all live like that. Anyway, I was at the mall earlier, and every time I go to the mall, I go to the Thomas Kinkade gallery and check out his new work. Then, I go to the store across that holds a bunch of Native American things, like jewelry and animal carvings and all the good stuff. I was rummaging through these t-shirts that were on sale, and I saw this tiger t-shirt that was faded and seemed to be neglected. I immediately was attracted to it, and purchased it. It's pretty awesome, aside from the strange scent and it's a little oversized, but I love it.

Is there a way to shrink it? I've read things online, but i'd like to know from an experienced person.

cereal Pictures, Images and Photos

When Saturday mornings meant waking up at 7 in the morning, fixing up a bowl of your favorite cereal, and watching your favorite cartoons? What happened to that? I miss that .. Oh, yeah.

We grew up.

iwantnewshoes

I get this crazy itch every now and then to purchase new shoes, and although I love my worn out Chuck Taylors, which is my favorite pair of shoes in the world, I need something new, and I've been investing in the moccasin/boat shoe trend. I'm quite obsessed with the tailoring on the sides, and the fact that it's slip on. I usually don't shop at stores like American Eagle, but their shoes are really quite amazing, and they're affordable, too. However, what I really want are these bad boys, but $80 is ridiculous. Hm, what do you think? Is it worth it? Do you know of any other places that sell those kinds of shoes?

Anneliese van der Pol 6 Pictures, Images and Photos

There was a little show called "That's So Raven" and a lovely lady named Anneliese Van Der Pol who played Chelsea. It's been awhile since she's done anything on screen, but she's been keeping busy working on stage on Broadway. She played the most recent and last Belle of Beauty and the Beast in '08, and she has a main role in the upcoming "Vanities". Such a wonderful talent, an amazing actress, and truly glorious voice. It's ridiculous how underrated she is.

Check her out on youtube! www.youtube.com/vanderpolmusic

History has been made, as Michelle Obama is set to grace the cover of Vogue.
Finally, an intelligent, accomplished, beautiful, black woman.
(I still love you, Tyra!)

"Annie, Get Your Gun!" is the spring show my high school's producing this year, and I'm part of the cast. I just recently discovered my love for musical theatre, and although I have a small role in the show (I play Little Jake), it's still a WHOLE lot of work. You have to have patience. And you have to be quiet. And listen. And know your cues. And lines. And try not to laugh when you do something stupid. And know your songs. And dances... I'm so thankful I didn't get a main role because quite frankly, as a freshman, it would be just so overwhelming. We still have about a month and a half left of rehearsals before opening night, and we just completed act one. May the theatre gods bless us. It can only go up from here, right?

PS; don't you think "The Dark Knight" could be turned into a wonderful musical? I do! And I call dibs on playing Joker!

Begginings

I never really gave much thought to blogging, but here I am anyway, typing away ...
This blog is basically about the arts; but what is art? It's not just paintings and sculptures. If you were to look up "art" in the dictionary, this is what you would find:

"art"
-noun
1. the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.

Art is music, film, acting, fashion, food, literature, dance, and yes, drawing & painting. I'm very much a lover of each of those forms of art, and I'll be blogging about each a lot! I don't have much to say right now, this being my first post and all, but I hope you check back because everyone needs a little art in there life.

Earlier today, I went to the local Barnes & Nobles in pursuit to find the novel, "Wicked". Yes, the one that has recently been adapted by Broadway. Anyway, an employee came up to me and asked me if I needed help. This is how the conversation went:

-"Did you want the paperback version? Or the hard cover?"
-"Whichever one's less expensive."
-He laughs.
-"There ya go! Great musical. Did you see it?"
-"No, but I want to. I wanna read the book first."
-"Oh, I see. I won't spoil it for you, hahahahaha."
-I force a laugh.
-"Did you see the Wizard of Oz?"
-"No, I need to, though."
-"YOU HAVENT SEEN THE WIZARD OF OZ?!"
-"... No, not yet."
-"Oh, you have to before you read this book."
Oh, God. Please shut up.
-"I know."
-"So what other musicals do you like?"
Someone shoot me.
-"Um, Chicago and Rent."
-"NO WAY! ME TOO! Did you see blahblahblahblahblah.."
(this goes on for about six and a half minutes)
-"Yeah.. I think I'm gonna go pay for my book now."
-"Here, lemee ring it up for you!"
-"... Okay."
-"So, what else do you enjoy besides broadway?"
-"Painting... Music... Dancing..."
-"Oh, so you're like, artsy."

and that's where I got the idea, haha.
and that's also the last time I ask him for help.
